Purse Snatching:

Do not carry a bag that dangles from your shoulder. It can be easily
yanked off your shoulder from someone coming up from behind.

Carry a bag that you can you let go if you have to.

Be aware of your surroundings and carry your bag close to your body,
tucked in behind your elbow.

If you are a victim of a purse snatching, do not fight to hold onto
your bag, especially if there is a weapon involved. Your purse and it's
contents are not worth your life, or safety.

Getting home, or walking to your car late at night:

Avoid taking shortcuts that are not well lit, or traveled.

When walking to your residence, or to or from your car, have your keys
in hand until you're inside for added protection.

If someone drops you off, have them wait for you until you're safely
inside.

Walk in open areas, avoid shrubbery or places of concealment.
