The use of negotiation during times when subjects are suicidal, barricaded or have taken hostages is widely recognized as a successful method of peacefully resolving such critical incidents. It is also recognized that some circumstances are non-negotiable, and the only realistic solution would lie with a tactical response. It is the intent of the Galveston Police Department Crisis Negotiation Team to provide a highly trained and skilled negotiations team as a resource for the crisis management of critical incidents. The Galveston Police Crisis Negotiation Team is available 24hrs a day to any and all hostage/crisis related incidents in the City of Galveston. The CNT consist of ten dedicated and proud members that believe in what they do and look forward to the continued development and sharing of their knowledge. Each of these team members offers different personalities, skills and talents that contribute greatly to the success of the team.
Crisis Negotiation Team

The mission of the Galveston Police Department Crisis Negotiation Team (CNT) is to provide the field commander with negotiators who have been specially trained and equipped to diffuse critical incidents involving subjects who are suicidal, barricaded, hostage-takers or engaged in terrorist activities.
The Crisis Negotiation Team routinely conducts joint training with the Galveston Police SWAT Team and area county crisis negotiation teams.
